Trieste, Italy, Roadtrip to Koper, Piran, but not Croatia!!!

Michelle pointed out this immature picture opportunity! And of couse we had to take it.

Statue near the castle in Trieste, Italy.

These old colums were so neat to see, but it was hard to get a picture of them without the modern signs. I managed to do it, but in some of these cities I believe that they should just ban cars and modern signs all together.

Looking down the road that leads up to the castle. Its hard to tell here, but one can see the Adriatic Sea and Alps in the distance.

Looking up the road toward the castle and the group that I was traveling with. A little info about us, but there were 20 of us packed into 4 European cars. We were an extremely international group, no Italians or Slovenes with us. I am not sure the number of countries represented, but it was around 7-9.

The views seemed to be completely outstanding no matter where we go!

This is looking down on a park. We actually walked up the stairs that are shown below to the area where children play, then the next level was a fountain (also pictured) and the final level brought us out of the park area to a street with a wonderful view.

The entrance to the park.

Looking down on the fountain and the play area from the top level of the park.

The amazing streets that we walked down.

Looking down on the door of a church below the main church in the city.

The bell tower of an old church in Trieste, Italy.

There were numerous sections in the major church. Below this painting is a body made of gold displayed in a glass coffin.

The main alter in the church.

One of the private worship areas.

Looking at the outside of the church with its many levels of stairs to get up to it.

I just find this very intertaining. The guy on the right was making fun of the guy on the left and he really didn't care. Pictured above are Jacek (Poland), Andruis and Alina (Lithuania), and Martina ( I think) from Slovakia (again not sure at the moment).

I am not even going to try to name everyone in this picture, but a couple of the places they are from include: Belgium, Poland, Norway, Russia, and Slovakia.

Cute balconies of apartments!

The ancient remains that were located near the church.

The entire area with the remains.

There was an artist with his works taped down to the sidewalk painting away in the square. The pictures are absolutely beautiful.

There was some sort of demonstration going on near the square. I couldn't understand anything being said, but a crowd was gathered complete with television cameras. If you notice these womens faces they are all bruised and beaten. It was close to Women's Day, so I figure that they were speaking out about abusive husbands.

The columns on this building were absolutely massive, I couldn't hardly believe it.

There are these maps of the city in quite a few cities that we have visited in this area. They are porportionate when it comes to the layout and elevation of the city. Its really neat as they also are completely marked in braille.

A town in located along the city square.

The amazingly detailed fountain in Trieste's square.

Girl group photo in the square.

Guys group photo, we obviously out numbered them.

Neat lights that can be found around the square and main street in Trieste, Italy.

The gold details on one of the buildings along the square.
The detailed top of another building.

Fountain along the side of one of the buildings on the square.

Cruise! Just a ship in the distance, darn.

The infamous square.

Great pictures. I hadn't known that you were overseas this semester until talking w/ your mother during a lull in District Speech contest. I'm quite jealous of your opportunity to study abroad. I hope you are enjoying your time. I will check your blog from time to time to see what is happening w/ you now that I know about this space. Take care..Ms. Clark
